{"id":492,"date":"2015-10-28T08:35:54","date_gmt":"2015-10-28T06:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/headbangames.com\/devblog\/?p=492"},"modified":"2016-06-14T07:22:32","modified_gmt":"2016-06-14T07:22:32","slug":"devblog-part-21-some-new-game-features","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/headbangames.com\/devblog\/devblog-part-21-some-new-game-features\/","title":{"rendered":"Devblog part #21 \u2013 Some new game features."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I mentioned in my previous post, while keeping the game mostly a platformer I decided to add some\u00a0adventure-like features to the game.<\/p>\n<h6>Basic Inventory<\/h6>\n<p>A pretty common feature for an adventure game.<br \/>\nInventory is used to keep items you pickup along the way, so they can later be used elsewhere and help you advance in the game.<\/p>\n<p>While in all traditional adventure game the inventory does not have a maximum item limit,\u00a0I decided to simplify and limit it to 1 item at a time, picking up a new item will drop the previous one.<br \/>\nThis will keep the game and interactions more flowing and will not require any additional button\/keys pressed to pickup, select or use an item.<\/p>\n<p>So, there are a few types of items I am planning on but the list is not done yet, for now here is one of the items, that is more of a tool, a torch, pick it up to light up dark places (<a href=\"#video\">see video at the bottom<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h6>Object and scene manipulation<\/h6>\n<p>Another addition to game is push-able crates and floor weight-triggers.<br \/>\nThe floor triggers are used to open up gates for now, but they can be assigned to do other things.<br \/>\nThe crate in this instance is used to active the floor trigger to keep the gate opened.<\/p>\n<h6>Level Design &#8211; Progress<\/h6>\n<h6>World 1<\/h6>\n<p>Level 1 &#8211; 6 scenes done &#8211; completed<br \/>\nLevel 2 &#8211; 3 scenes done &#8211; in progress<br \/>\nLevel 3 &#8211; 5 scenes done &#8211; in progress<br \/>\nLevel 4 &#8211; 0 scenes done &#8211; not start yet<\/p>\n<p>Once I&#8217;ll get all 4 levels done I will upload a new version to the site, stay tuned.<\/p>\n<div id=\"video\">\n<div style=\"width: 840px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-492-1\" width=\"840\" height=\"474\" loop preload=\"auto\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/headbangames.com\/devblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/torch.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/headbangames.com\/devblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/torch.mp4\">http:\/\/headbangames.com\/devblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/torch.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As I mentioned in my previous post, while keeping the game mostly a platformer I decided to add some\u00a0adventure-like features to the game.
