This week I was focused mainly on setting up the Steam page.
The page is all done and was sent today for Valve approval.
Aside from all the capsules, texts and tedious setup required to get the page live I had to finalize my demo trailer and so I did.
The trailer was mostly done, I just needed to add narration and so I started looking for voice actors. Lucky for me I found the perfect guy pretty fast.
While I wrote the narration from a storyteller point of view, I intended to eventually do some of it from Mikey's perspective. But I didn't plan on looking for the voice of Mikey just yet, as I won't start recording VO any time soon.
The funny thing is, the voice actor I found is great at doing voices. So, I asked him if he could try and do a 12 years old voice and he did try but it wasn't a good fit.
But then he surprised me and had his son record it too and he did great!
I ended up doing a mix of both father and son, check it out!
Other than that, I did more work on the game.
I added a bunch of new sound effects, small stuff to make the game world feel more alive, like door squeaking or slamming behind you, our pelican friend over at the beach will now be talking to himself, god knows what he is talking about. The new house clock will now tick subtly. A little background hum for the bedroom ceiling fan and Mikey air blowing, when blowing the candles and the dinghy.
I also added sounds for inventory interactions, when opening/closing, picking and dropping items and using the paging arrows.
On the music front, I did a little bit of work on the house music, I toned down the drum cymbals which were a little too much and I added a new strings channel.
I also added the theme music as the main menu music.
I made new in-game animations for Mikey when he is talking on the walkie talkie, both idle and talk animations were added.
I worked on the main menu. I made a new pixel art version of the logo, added a few more background elements and replaced the fonts in all the menu and info screens to the new and more pixelated font I'm using for subtitles and captions.
And I did some polish on Mikey's guitar playing cutscene and on the demo ending cutscene.
